Australian rider Edwina Tops-Alexander aboard Old Chap Tame(Carthago x Quidam de Revel) won the four star World Cup Grand Prix in Doha yesterday. Eleven combinations qualified for the 2nd round out of the original 20 riders.
Tops-Alexander put the pressure on in the second round with a clear in a time of 49.29 seconds. Ali Al-Rumaihi was riding Gunder (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Randel Z), and the pair finished their round clear in a total time of 50.37 seconds to give them zero penalties allowing them to finish second in the line up in front of Al-Rumaihi’s home crowd. Abdullah Al-Sharbatly came third, riding La Toya 44 ( Le Cou Cou x Argentinus). Abdullah had a fence down in 49.52 seconds.
This competition forms part of the Arab League competition. 20 points were awarded to Ali Al-Rumaihi of Qatar and 17 points awarded to Al-Sharbatly of Saudi Arabia. The Arab League will continue in United Arab Emirates with four shows to be held later on the next couple of months.
