The Global Champions Tour kicked off today at Al Forsan in Abu Dhabi. The opening class was the CSI5* 1.45m which consisted of two phases with the 2nd phase against the clock. The class saw many of the big names taking part as well as 5 of our own UAE riders.
The top ranked UAE rider was Sultan Mohammed Munif Al Hajeri on Shakira 94. They had a very fast round but had 4 faults to finish in 19th position.
Abdullah Mohd Al Marri riding Randor K finished in 21st position out of 41 entries. The duo had a rail down in the double combination and completed the round on 4 faults.
Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoumwas the first of the UAE riders riding our favourite, Peanuts de Beaufour, a horse she has produced herself from the age of 6. She had a good result with only 4 faults in the second phase (23rd).
Mohamed Ahmed Al Owais on the mare Totila was clear up until they had an oxer down in the second phase (24th)
Sheikh Shakboot Al Nehyan on Arc en Ciel de Muze had an early fence down and 1 time fault in the first phase but held it together to finish on 5 faults. (29th)
The class was won by Johannes Ehning on Cayenne 162 (26.01s) followed closely by Denis Lynch on Night Train(26.07s) and Roger-Yves Bost on Nikyta d’Elle(26.69s) .
The second class of the evening, CSI5* 1.50m, one round against the clock which 3 of our UAE riders participated in.
Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum riding the french bred Kalaska de Semilly had 2 poles down in the last line of jumps with a time of 76.41s to put her in 14th place
Mohamed Ahmed Al Owais riding his stallion Coeur Bon had an unlucky start and finished on 25 faults.
Sheikh Shakboot Al Nahyan and Valentino Balia were in a great form and were lucky not to have a pole down even though they gave the liverpool jump a good knock. The pair finished clear with only 1 time fault (78.04s).
The class was won by Luciana Diniz on Bluebuster riding a very fast round with a time of 61.43s beating Kevin Staut on Cheyenne 111 Z(63.57s) and Marc Houtzager on Sterrehof’s Uppity(63.85s)
