Day 2 of the final stage of the Global Champions Tour consisted of two CSI2* rounds which saw the UAE’s Nadia Abdul Aziz Taryam win the 2* Al Sayegh Brothers Grand Prix.
Taryam on her 9-year-old Calawo clinched the win in an intense jump off with Frenchman David Frederic riding Sheikha Alyazia Bint Sultan Al Nahyan’s Equador van’t Roosakker and Sheikh Shakhboot Al Nahyan riding Muscaris d’Ariel.
In the final class of the day, CSI5* 1.45/1.50m, two of the UAE riders, Sheikh Shakboot Al Nahyan and Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum, rode beautiful clear rounds to make it through to the jump off along with 12 other riders. Mohamed Ahmed Al Owais riding Tolita finished on 8 faults and Mohamed Ghanem Al Hajri riding Shakira 94 had a fence down at the Hilton Hotels oxer and decided to retire after another pole came down.
It was a high calibre jump off with 14 top riders giving their all. Christian Ahlmann and Asca Z set a very fast round of 41.47 seconds for the rest of the riders to follow. For the UAE Sheikh Shakboot Al Nahyan riding Valentino Balia had a promising round until the last fence came down. Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum riding Peanuts de Beaufour had the Gucci oxer down and finished on 4 faults.
