Meydan Pillar Partner, Meydan Sobha returns to Meydan Racecourse this Thursday, January 21, 2016, for the season’s third Dubai World Cup Carnival card, featuring the Group 2 US$250,000 Al Fahidi Fort turf race.

The prestigious contest, which had been run at 1600m until it was revised to 1400m in the 2013-14 season, was won by Godolphin’s Safety Check, trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick in 2015.

The sponsor of the Dubai World Cup day Group 2 dirt contest, the Godolphin Mile, Meydan Sobha is paying a second visit to the racecourse in five days having supported a meeting of the Racing at Meydan season on Saturday.

Mr. PNC Menon, Co-Chairman of Meydan Sobha and Group Chairman and Founder of Sobha Group said: “We look forward to our second racenight at Meydan Racecourse this season as we support the third Dubai World Cup Carnival card. The race meeting on Thursday January 21 offers spectators one of the season’s most exciting turf races in the Al Fahidi Fort – a contest that is watched throughout the world. We see this as a prime opportunity to capitalise on the international audience of the Carnival for the good of our brand.”

Malih Al Basti, Vice Chairman, Meydan Group and Chairman of the Meydan Racing Committee said: “Meydan Group and Dubai Racing Club are pleased to enter into a third season in partnership with Meydan Sobha. Our ongoing philosophy has always focused on forging long-term relationships with our partners. This is especially vital when, as in the case with Meydan Sobha, we share goals with our partners.”

An equally-split joint venture, Meydan Sobha is responsible for developing more than 47 million square feet of prime freehold land in the heart of Dubai. The first landmark project within Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City is the aptly-named District One.
