Ghantoot Polo & Racing Club will be will be busy this weekend as we see the return of the President of the UAE Showjumping Cup to the venue. Top riders will be competing in the President of the UAE Show Jumping Cup and the Federation Equestrian International (FEI) Furusiyya Nations Cup.
On Thursday, the Nations Cup is the second leg of the competition for the 2015 season and it is the single Middle East qualifier for the final. The final will be held in Barcelona in Spain from 24 to 27 September.
Alongside the Nations Cup competition is the President of the UAE Show Jumping Cup, which begins on Wednesday and runs until Saturday. The competition includes the Abu Dhabi Sports Council Welcome Stakes, the Emaar Challenge which serves as the first qualifier for the Grand Prix, Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup and the Grand Prix sponsored by Longines. The 5-star events have a total of 650 000 euros in prize money for placed riders.
The event is staged under the patronage of Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor to HH The President of the UAE and Chairman of the Emirates Equestrian Federation. Emaar and Longines are the sponsors and the event is supported by Abu Dhabi Sports Council and held under the supervision of the sport’s world governing body FEI.
The event is always a great family day out with free entry and great prizes for spectators in the daily lucky draw.
