Top riders sign up for GCT Abu Dhabi

Two thirds of the world’s top 30 riders have already signed up for the final of the Global Champions Tour series in Abu Dhabi later this month.

The starting list includes legendary names in the sport of show jumping, Olympic gold, silver and bronze medallists and also leading riders from the Royal Households of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

In a unique climax to the 2012 championship, the race for the overall title has come down to a cliffhanger contest between Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS) and Rolf-Göran Bengtsson (SWE). Both riders have displayed consistently strong form during the season with regular podium appearances. In Abu Dhabi they will be hoping to hit top form on their star horses Cevo Itôt du Chateau and Casall La Silla.

The dramatic duel between Edwina and Rolf will be matched by a fierce battle between riders aiming to finish in the final Top 18 of the championship to win a share of around €1 million in prize money.

Here is the current list of riders heading for the thrilling final of the Global Champions Tour 2012. Any updates will be posted on the GCT website.
