Spinneys One Day Event Cup 2013 held at Desert Palm Resort and Spa this Friday 15th march ended with a great day in the sun for Sarah Khairallah one of the junior riders winning in The Spinneys Cup Novice 80cm class as seen in the picture with her fellow competitors Claire Al Rehda in second and Ali Moore in third place.
The Dressage and show jumping held in morning on the grass in front of the hotel had its triumphs and disappointments leading to a thrilling cross country in the afternoon. Other class winners in the Spinneys Cup were Claire Al Rehda on her second ride, the lovely Chestnut Mare, Babs Du Rouet, in the Open class (BE100) with Laura Jurs on her own Mare Pimpinella and the lovely Sophia Ashcroft in third place with Spitting image, who went on to win the “Best Turned out” for the day. This is her second consecutive win in two years with this prize and now clearly a hard one to beat in that department.
The grass roots training class specially created by the Emirates Equestrian Federation (EEF) to introduce Eventing to the UAE riders gave the juniors (under 16 years) an opportunity for stardom with both Hannah Ratcliffe and Darcie Wilson from Emirates Equestrian Center taking second and third places respectfully. Earning themselves a Spinneys Cup Crystal Arc trophy and prize money. This class was won by Laura Jurs from Desert palm on a riding school horse, Zigala with a great start to the day with the leading dressage score out of all three classes.
